EXPERIENCE YUCATAN: MAYAN RUINS, RIO LAGARTOS AND LAS COLORADAS TOUR

DAY 1. (WEDNESDAY) CANCÚN – UXMAL – MÉRIDA

This tour of Yucatan begins with an early departure from Cancun in comfortable transportation heading to the Uxmal Mayan ruins to begin the adventure. The archaeological zone of Uxmal is considered to be one of the most important cities in Mayan history. Its monumental urban layout, stunning architecture and artistic Puuc-style details helped make this a designated World Heritage Site.

Here we will visit: The Governor’s Palace, The Quadrangle of the Nuns and The House of the Turtles and enjoy time for a delicious regional lunch (Does not include drinks). After your guided tour of Uxmal, we will go directly to the city of Mérida, founded in 1542 by Francisco de Montejo. Built on the site of an ancient Mayan city, you will enjoy a tour of Merida and visit the main attractions such as the historic center with its incredible architecture and the charming Paseo de Montejo with its European flair.

DAY 2. (THURSDAY) RIO LAGARTOS AND LAS COLORADAS

After enjoying breakfast at your Merida hotel you will make the trip the Yucatan coast to Río Lagartos. This small fishing town brings an atmosphere of peace and tranquility as you admire the great diversity of flora and fauna such as flamingos, crocodiles, pelicans, and so much more in this protected natural reserve. Next up you will board a boat heading to Las Coloradas, “The Pink Lakes of Yucatan”, one of the most important salt flats in the country.

In this unique destination, the sea water is enclosed in dams until it evaporates, thus providing an amazing pink landscape. After the tour of the nature reserve we will have time for lunch (drinks not included) Return to Mérida.

DAY 3. (FRIDAY) MÉRIDA – CHICHÉN ITZÁ – CANCÚN

After breakfast we will start the day with a tour of Izamal, a small Colonial town founded in 1553 by Franciscan monks where all the houses are painted yellow. Here you will visit the Ex Convent of Saint Anthony of Padua, which is considered the second largest atrium in the world, only behind Saint Peter’s Square in the Vatican and enjoy a tour to see all the main attractions of Izamal. Finally, we will head to the archaeological zone of Chichén Itzá, the most famous Mayan city in the world.

Declared a World Heritage Site in 1988 by UNESCO and a New Wonder of the World since 2007, Chichen Itza delights millions of visitors with its stunning architecture, history and folklore. Your guided tour of Chichen Itza brings you to the Main Esplanade, the Observatory, the Ball Court (the largest in Mesoamerica!), the Court of the Thousand Columns, the Temple of the Warriors and the Sacred Cenote, as well as the spectacular Pyramid of Kukulcán. After the tour of the archaeological zone we will have time for a lunch (does not include drinks) and at the end we will return to the city of Cancun.
