An Ayahuasca ceremony in Cancun is a profound and life changing experience with powerful shamanic medicine. Ayahuasca is an infusion made with the leaves of the Psychotria viridis shrub together with the stems of the Banisteriopsis caapi vine, although other plants and ingredients can also be added. The combination of these plants offer a way to open your minds, heal from past trauma, and experience a spiritual journey.
An Ayahuasca ceremony in Cancun is generally held at night and will last until the effects of the Ayahuasca have worn off. After the shaman leading the ceremony prepares the space and blesses it, Ayahuasca is offered to the participants, sometimes divided into several doses After consuming Ayahuasca, most people begin to feel its effects within 20 to 60 minutes.
The effects depend on the dose and the trip can last from 2 to 6 hours. Those who take Ayahuasca may experience symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, feelings of euphoria, strong visual and auditory hallucinations, mind-altering psychedelic effects, fear, and paranoia. It should be noted that some of the adverse effects, such as vomiting and diarrhea, are considered a normal part of the cleansing experience.
