Ceremony Huachuma / San Pedro

Huachuma or San Pedro Medicinal Cactus Ceremony in Cancun

A Huachuma cactus ceremony in Cancun invites you to dive deep into yourself with medicine from the cactus known as “San Pedro”. Currently known as Echinopsis pachanoi in scientific literature, is a tall columnar cactus (up to 20 feet), light green, nocturnal flowering, almost spineless, native to the Cordillera of the Andes. The goal of a Huachuma ceremony is to allow you to bloom and to open like the flower of the San Pedro cactus.

San Pedro has a rich history of shamanic sacred use. It has been used to treat various ailments such as cancer, diabetes, hepatitis, fever, paralysis, joint problems, high blood pressure, heart disease, kidney and bladder burning, to name a few. These sacred cacti, like other indigenous entheogens, are miracle plants. San Pedro has also been observed to cure drug addiction and alcoholism.

The process is similar, the results will be very personal. Here is a list of the often profound and permanent life changes that our participants have encountered:

  • Health: Relief from depression, asthma, anxiety, sleep disorders, fibromyalgia, addictions, heart disorders, diabetes, mental deficiencies and much more.
  • Vitality: Improvements in mental functioning, ability to concentrate; increased drive, inspiration, intuition, creativity, joy, and general relief of spirit and self.
  • Trauma resolution: Resolution of dissociative states resulting from individual or transgenerational trauma, shock, fear, and loss of sense of security.
  • Life: Improved confidence and trust, healing relationships, greater communication, healing family problems, improving latent skills, return of self-love and self-esteem.
  • Emotional blocks: Heal the pain of loss or broken relationships, opening the heart, the ability to love, reconnecting with oneself and nature.
  • Purpose: Clarity of vision and life purpose, ease of action, higher achievement and performance, a much higher rate of synchronicities.

The Huachama ceremony in Cancun is held at night. The effects begin to be felt 20 to 60 minutes after the first intake and the journey can last from 2 to 6 hours. Each person reacts differently out of euphoria and a feeling of enlightenment while others may experience anxiety and panic. Shamans provide spiritual guidance to participants throughout the experience and monitor participants for their safety.
